Seattle Public Schools, a large public K-12 school district, identified a gap in educational and racial equity, as well as disparity in achievement between its white and non-white students. To begin addressing the success gap, the school system invested in diversity training for its academic staff. They soon discovered that their approach needed to be reimagined. That is where Cyborg Mobile jumped on board to design and develop collaborative online learning experience that would encompass all staff levels.
We developed culturally responsive teachings and practices via implementation of a Learning Management System. The EOG Digital Toolkit provided easy-to-access online resources that enhanced the efficacy of facilitated EOG trainings. Rolled toolkit out to pilot users, captured pilot feedback and contributed to the EOG Institute that comprised 240+ attendees.
Currently, the tool is facilitated through the district’s Racial Equity teams (41 teams), the online new hire and new substitute orientation, and with a consortium of building educators and central office staff.
We innovated a solution that resulted in a first-of-its-kind equity training application. This content was distributed to thousands of school district employees that had previously never participated in this capacity before.
After much success with this school district, we were hired by another local school district to roll out a similar toolkit as part of their ongoing goal to provide all students with a quality education experience and to help them achieve success.
